About the AMC Exam

The Australian Medical Council (AMC) Exam is for IMGs who want to practice medicine in Australia. By conducting this exam, they check if you’re qualified up to the Australian standards.

This AMC Exam consists of two parts:

• AMC Part 1 (MCQ Exam) – Tests your medical knowledge.
• AMC Part 2 (Clinical Exam) – Assesses your clinical and communication skills through practical scenarios.

There is an option to choose for the Workplace-Based Assessment (WBA) or Pre-employment Structured Clinical Interviews (PESCI) instead of AMC Part 2.

Once you’ve cleared the exams, you will have to apply for AHPRA registration. This allows you to work in Australia as a registered doctor.

AMC Exam Fees 

Step 1: Initial Registration

Step 3: English Proficiency Test

The Workplace- Based Assessment (WBA) includes 6–12 months of supervised training at an accredited hospital.

Option 3: Pre-employment Structured Clinical Interviews (PESCI) 

If you are someone who is not interested in AMC Part 2 or WBA and has 3 years of experience, then you can take the PESCI. This is an interview type of an exam, where a group of panel members will assess you.

Additional Fees After AMC Exam

After you pass the exams:

1. AHPRA Registration

Once you have cleared all the exams, you will have to register as a doctor in Australia with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)

2. Police Clearance and Medical Test

To apply for visa and jobs, you will have to go through few steps like:
